Solid Wood Construction
To deliver an astonishingly rich and vibrant sound befitting of the name Hummingbird, this guitar has been crafted with all solid tonewoods – Mahogany for the back and sides, and Sitka Spruce for the top.
This tonewood pairing produces a classic combination of clarity and power, with a woody voice that’s perfect for folk guitar players, but also suitable for a wide variety of musical styles.
What’s A 12-String?
As the name would suggest, a 12-stringed guitar has double the number of strings than that of a standard six-string.
The extra upper-register strings are tuned in unison with the strings next to them (B and E), giving you a “doubling up” effect when played.
In contrast to this, the four lower-register extra strings are tuned to an octave higher than the string next to them.
The end result is a much fuller and more resonant sound than a standard six-string, and gives you the ability to add a whole new sonic dimension to your compositions.
Plug N’ Play
For those situations where simply playing acousticly isn’t enough and you need an amplified boost, Epiphone have equipped this guitar with a Fishman Sonicore under saddle pickup and Sonitone preamp.
These electronics allow you to plug into your favourite amp or a PA system, and will reproduce an accurate audio image of your guitar’s natural sound.
In addition to this, the preamp is of a discreet, soundhole-mounted design and features rotary controls for both volume and tone, allowing you to make subtle adjustments to your output if needed.
Please Note: Although this guitar is listed as featuring Grover tuning machines, it may instead ship with Wilkinson tuners fitted. This is because Epiphone are currently in the process of altering their current acoustic and electric guitar model specs, with this being one of the key changes.
