The Hagstrom Viking, a beloved model that was first introduced in 1965 and continued production until 1979, has experienced a resurgence in popularity since Hagstrom’s comeback in 2004. It is highly sought after due to its remarkable tone, easy playability, and striking appearance, and has once again become a top-selling model worldwide.
Hagstrom is now paying homage to the guitar’s rich history with the release of the ’67 Viking II, which was originally produced during a significant era in rock and roll. This Swedish pioneer has had a significant influence on the music industry and pop culture over the years, and was often played by some of rock’s most prominent figures and innovators.
The newly launched ’67 Viking II from Hagstrom has a slim-lined flame maple ply hollow body, attached to a 6-in-line bolt-on Canadian maple neck, and finished with elegant gold hardware. It features dual-coiled Hagstrom “H-52” Mini-Humbucking pickups that have been specifically designed to transport players back to the golden age of rock and pop music. These pickups capture the classic ’60s sound while incorporating modern technology for a classic yet punchy humbucker tone. The split single-coil mode provides players with complete tonal versatility, making it no surprise that musicians everywhere are falling in love with this iconic guitar all over again.
