Exquisite Tonewoods

The 814CE DLX is constructed with a Solid Sitka Spruce top and an Indian Rosewood back and sides. Sitka Spruce is one of the most commonly used tonewoods for acoustic guitar tops, and helps generate a broad dynamic range, acommodating numerous play styles, whether you want to go with all-out aggressive strumming or light-fingerpicking.

As one of the most popular and musically rich tonewoods, Indian Rosewood offers a sweeping frequency range at both ends of the tonal spectrum. This wood sounds deeper in the low ends and brighter at the top ends that other woods can manage. This iconic wood is incredibly versatile, and when partnered with Solid Spruce can produce a harmonically rich voice, with a bright and sparkling top end.

High Grade Electronics

With Taylor’s very own ES2 (Expression System 2) you get a revolutionary pickup design that’s been engineered to deliver the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guita amplification. Complete with a patented behind-the-saddle pickup with three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors, the ES2 captures a much more dynamic range of acoustic sound than any of its predecessors.

The ES2 is complimented by Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, which produces a highly-responsive and incredible amplified tone. The combination of the ES2 with this preamp ensures that whether you’re on stage and playing through a PA or amp, or even recording in the studio, your guitar signal is recreated as faithfully as possible.
