New for 2017, Schecter introduces the CV Series. A great vintage and modern Rock ‘n’ Roll inspired design focused on versatility.
5 String Bass, Inspired by Vintage and Modern Rock ‘N’ Roll
Versatility with Split-Parallel Pickup Switching
From the start, when designed the CV-5, Schecter decided they wanted to focus on versatility. Wanting to give the player the opportunity to cross over into any genre, Schecter designed the CV-5 bass.
The pickups installed on the CV-5 are Schecter’s own Diamond J-Bucker pickups. A three-way Series-Split-Parallel switch for each pickup allows you to chance each of the pickups into three completely different sounding basses. You can then blend the two together to get even further tonal options.
Simplicity was also a key factor in the design and so Master Volume, Master Tone and a Three-Way Toggle allow you to get great sounds at lightning speeds without having to fiddle around with unnecessary settings.
Combined, these different options give you an immense level of control over your sound and allow you to dial-in some classic tunes and keep up with myriad new sounds.
Vintage, Rock ‘n’ Roll Inspired Design with Great Hardware
The body has been crafted from Ash into a classic ‘C’ shape. This grants extra reach to the higher frets; perfect for bass solos and other adventurous, melodious playing. The CV-5 has a flat top with a vintage radius and elbow/waist contours so it is extremely comfortable to carry and play.
The neck has vintage-style 6 bolt construction joining it to the body. It is made of Maple and features carbon fibre reinforcement rods for an extremely secure build.
Adding to the old-school vibe of this 5 string bass is a Maple fretboard, made extremely playable by the 22 narrow X-Jumbo frets. An extended scale length of 35” has been used as this is essential for the correct intonation and playing of a 5 string bass.At the top of the fretboard is a Graph Tech XL Ivory TUSQ nut. TUSQ is a marvellous material that is precision engineered under high heat and pressure to enhance the frequencies that remain in the guitar strings, resulting in fantastic sustain. It is also permanently lubricated so you don’t have to worry about future touch ups.
With its classic and vintage design with versatile modern features combined with its high quality build and hardware, the CV-5 is a great bass you’ll enjoy playing and it can handle pretty much any style you can throw at it. The addition of a fifth string makes enhances the potential of these bass massively; allowing for great drop tuning and perfect for playing hard rock and heavy metal.
